It’s every Alabamian’s favorite time of the year: fall! Finally, scorching temperatures have fizzled out for the most part, and everyone’s ready to get spooky, cheer for football teams, and enjoy pumpkin-flavored everything! Here are some events in Homewood you don’t want to miss this season.
Birmingham Oktoberfest
Come on out to Railroad Park on Saturday, October 5th from 12-7 PM and indulge in delicious seasonal beers and German food. Lay out a blanket or sit in a lawn chair and be entertained by a variety of live music, or play some Oktoberfest-themed games!
3rd Annual Magic City Mac N’ Cheese Festival
Mac n’ cheese lovers, rejoice! With more than 20 types of macaroni from all over Birmingham (including food trucks!), this is an event you don’t want to forget. There will be free activities for children and pets are welcome. All proceeds will go to Community Grief Support. It’s going to be a cheesy, fun time. Join us at Brookwood Village on Sunday, October 6th from 1-4 PM.
Halloween Ghost Hunt
Something’s haunting Homewood’s Public Library..Join the Southern Ghost Girls, as they walk through the Homewood Public Library after hours. Guests are encouraged to bring cameras, flashlights, and recording equipment. All proceeds will benefit the Homewood Public Library. Don’t miss this spooktacular event taking place on Friday, October 25th from 7-10 PM.
Barktober Fest at Cahaba Brewing
Dress your dog in something spooky, and grab some brews while you’re at it. There will be a pet costume contest, and all proceeds will benefit Hand in Paw. Join us at Cahaba Brewing on Thursday, October 5th from 5:30-8:30 PM.
An Evening at Hogwarts
Two nights of wizardly wonder! Grab your wand and get ready to dine in the great hall, learn spells in Hogwarts classes, and watch Harry Potter on the IMAX screen. McWane Center Oct 19th-20th.
Boo at the Zoo at the Birmingham Zoo
Lions, tigers, and ghosts, oh my! Join Birmingham Zoo for 18 nights, as it’s transformed into a spooky destination with themed rides, attractions, and carnival games. Come on down October 11th-14th and 18th-31st from 5-9 PM for some spooky fun.
